First Norwegian company presented by Siemens at the Hannover Messe 2019
The world’s leading trade show for industrial technology took place in Hannover, Germany the first week of April. Among the exhibitors was Siemens, who for the first time chose to present a Norwegian company at their stand: Tronrud Engineering and the packaging machine TCP.
Hannover Messe 2019 was a success. Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel marked the official opening ceremony together with The Swedish Prince Carl Philip. A total of 215,000 unique people visited the fair to get an insight into the latest innovative solutions within artificial intelligence, robotics, and digitization.
TCP is a concrete example of digitalization in practice and was presented at the Siemens' stand. The machine is developed using a digital twin: a digital copy or replica of the physical machine that contains all the needed information. By developing the machine using this technology from Siemens, we were able to detect errors and implement improvements before the actual production and assembly phase started. The result was a time reduction of 10% in the design phase and 25% in the commissioning phase, compared to earlier. The machine's speed increased twice with a capacity of 300 bags per minute.
As the first of its kind, we received great feedback. Thank you to Siemens for great cooperation and to our own employees who did a great job. We look forward to continuing our journey within digitalization and packaging technology.
During the show, we gave a presentation together with Siemens about the project and the collaboration. You will find a link to the presentation at the bottom of the page.
